The tube standard gives details of nominal cross-sectional dimensions in millimetres (nominal outside diameter x nominal wall thickness) and material temper.

It also gives product designation details and sets out tests that are carried out by the manufacturer to ensure that the tube supplied is free from defects and meets the requirements of the standard.
